Course choice

Blackpool Sixth offers an exceptionally wide range of courses. From further maths or Spanish to travel and tourism, or financial studies, there is something for everyone. To view our courses, please click here.

First class facilities

Blackpool Sixth boasts first class facilities and state-of-the-art, professional standard equipment in all areas including the latest Apple Macs and PCs. Within the past four years we have opened a brand new 300 seat theatre, a visual arts centre, a completely refurbished sports hall and a centre for engineering. This followed the creation of new science laboratories and new classrooms throughout the campus. There are also two large learning resource areas, social areas and a variety of dining options, including a Starbucks coffee shop. Specialist teaching

All our teaching staff are highly qualified specialists who are experts in teaching 16 to 19 year olds. They treat you as individuals and give you all the support you need to reach your full potential. Many of our staff are also examiners for their subjects and this helps them ensure that you are excellently prepared for your exams.

Outstanding learning resources

We have two state of the art learning resources centres. These are always available to students for study purposes and even open in the college holidays. Developing mind and character

Moving from high school to Blackpool Sixth means new freedom and independence. We will develop your skills to manage your learning, plan your time and find your own solutions. This is an ideal preparation for university and the world of work. We always ensure that you are well supported in your studies and other aspects of your life in Blackpool Sixth. You will have a pastoral mentor who will guide you through your first year and provide specialist advice when you need to select the next stage in your career. Personal development

We offer many enrichment activities including team and individual sports, to the engaging ‘Student Ambassador‘ scheme. We also run other societies such as bands, languages, photography, debating to help students meet new people and share their common interest. There are opportunities to travel abroad on ski trips, music tours and projects in countries as diverse as Greece and the US, so no matter where your interests lie, you will find Blackpool Sixth a friendly and fun environment. Your days here will provide you with great memories that will last a lifetime. 

Building your future

Blackpool Sixth students are successful students. Our A Level pass rate is consistently above the national average. Many of our students achieve a string of top level passes. Every year a number of students progress to Oxford and Cambridge and some 85% of students progress to university and other higher education courses. 6Advance Programme

We offer a programme of academic academies designed to support high achievement and advanced skills for career development. At the heart of the programme is an exciting range of academies for extra-curricular advancement, please click here to see our list of activities. These choices will provide participating students with excellent activities and skills-building to help them go beyond the exam curriculum and apply their knowledge and skills in challenging contexts.  In so doing, they will discover more about about a general subject or job area and will build up a great portfolio for applying to highly selective university or higher apprenticeship programmes.
