For a third successive year, Blackpool Sixth students and staff are celebrating our best ever set of A level and BTEC Level 3 results against a backdrop of curriculum reforms and tougher qualifications.
The overall pass rate has risen to 99.6% and the number of students receiving the highest possible grades has increased significantly once again. In A level subjects well over half of students’ grades were high grades (A*, A or B) and in BTEC over 85% of grades were distinction stars.
Blackpool Sixth Principal, Jill Gray, commented, “We are delighted with this wonderful set of results which reflects the dedication and hard work of our students and staff. Results like these mean that our students will be able to progress to their chosen next step with an excellent foundation for future success. We are extremely proud of their achievements.”
Amongst the many students who achieved a string of top grade passes was Charlie Warburton who achieved 4 A* grades in A Level Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics and will now progress to study maths at Warwick University. Fellow science student, Emily Townley secured her place at Durham University to read biological sciences after gaining straight A*s in A Level Biology, Chemistry and Maths.
Here are just some of our students’ brilliant results:
