Big Corrie role for Lucy
ITV have just announced that Lucy Fallon, a former Blackpool Sixth performing arts student, is to play a main role in the primetime soap, Coronation Street.
Lucy, 19 from Cleveleys, completed her studies at Blackpool Sixth in the summer and has now scooped her first TV role. Lucy will play Bethany Platt and will first appear in late March when her on screen character returns to Weatherfield from Milan after a row with her mum, Sarah Grimshaw. She will play alongside established soap legends such as Helen Worth who plays her grandmother, Gail.
On the ITV website, Lucy describes the experience of landing such a high profile role in a soap watched by millions every week.
Lucy commented, “Walking onto the set was surreal and nerve wracking but everyone has been really welcoming and I am thrilled to have been given this great opportunity.”
At Blackpool Sixth, Lucy achieved a Distinction Star and two Distinctions in her BTEC Extended Diploma Performing Arts before progressing to the highly prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London to study Musical Theatre.

Graham Hamlyn, Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts, commented, “When Lucy joined the college we quickly recognised her acting potential. She played the lead female role of Sarah in our musical production of Our House, and also sang, danced and acted in several of our public showcases. We are delighted that Lucy has quickly landed her first acting role and we wish her well for her future career.”
