Engineering students celebrate BAE and rotary award
Engineering and electronics students have been celebrating winning a prestigious BAE and rotary club award.
The lower sixth students from Blackpool Sixth have officially received their trophy after competing in the advanced section of the annual technology competition earlier this year, held at the YMCA in St Annes.
The winners, Jordan Langford, Jonathan Hopgood and Daniel Evans, had to design a pulley system to solve a tricky problem at the challenge, run by BAE Systems and Rotary Lytham.
This year Blackpool Sixth entered four teams of four students who all study engineering and electronics courses at the college.
“It gives opportunities for our students to work together in teams to solve a real world problem created by a local employer,” said Joe Mathews, electronics and engineering tutor.
“I enjoyed designing and building a solution to solve the problem, said Jordan Langford. “I hope to use these skills for an apprenticeship at BAE.”
