RUNWAY success has beckoned for a Blackpool designer and former sixth former.

Alice Potter’s couture designs have recently featured on the catwalk at the Most Curious Wedding Fair in London earlier this month.

Alice from Blackpool, 23, studied triple BTEC fashion and clothing at sixth form, and followed this up with a first class degree in fashion design from the University of Lancashire. Her final degree collection featured on the runway at Graduate Fashion week.

“From graduating, I’ve worked with a few brands and had my work on a number of different runways,”said Alice.

“One of my dresses went on tour with the singer Kate Nash and then this month my work was showcased at the Most Curious Wedding Fair and I’ve also got some garments going out to Germany next month for a hair show.

“The designs which featured at the wedding fair weren’t actually bridal, but they requested them for the runway and it has got lots of press for the fair and my designs,” said Alice.

Alice’s trademark with her dresses is detailed embellishments: “There were over 50,000 hand glued Swarovski crystals on my final collection at university!” she explained.

After having her first child, Evangeline last year, Alice is working on her next collection and is hoping to launch a handmade resin jewellery range in the near future. She began her design career as a intern at Maxines Feathers in Blackpool.

Fashion tutor Zarqa Batool, said: “Alice was always really creative. She always wanted to be a fashion designer and has worked really hard.

“In college, she was always professional in her work and met deadlines, worked really hard both in a team and on her own.”
