Law students benefit from barrister visit.
Grace Bennett, a barrister currently working for Vista Employer Services, visited Blackpool Sixth in her home town to talk to Law students about the different routes into the legal profession and the various roles within it.
Grace encourage the students to take every opportunity life offers with the story of her own non-conventional path to becoming a barrister. Students listened intently whilst Grace spoke of some of her past cases, defending the rights of those suffering discrimination in the workplace.
Katie Donnelli-Hunn, Lower Sixth Law student said:
“I personally found the whole experience with Grace Bennett really beneficial to me, especially as an aspiring barrister myself. Not only was it educational as to what studying law at university really entails, it was also really refreshing and encouraging to hear the individual story of how Grace achieved her dream. Grace made apparent that the road into Law, although satisfying, isn’t easy and requires a lot of dedication and hard work, whilst also inspiring us to believe that it is, of course, achievable if we want it badly enough. I am extremely grateful to the college for providing us with such opportunity, as it has motivated me to really work for the career I desire. The ongoing guidance and support offered from college is only exemplified within the talk we received from Grace, and I cannot thank Grace enough for the insight into the reality of law.”
