Paws for thought as fundraising adds up to puppy dog training
A puppy will be undertaking their guide dog training thanks to the fundraising efforts of students at Blackpool Sixth.
Students from the librarian team have been fundraising and smashed their £300 target, collecting £523 for the Guide Dogs UK charity.
“We invited the guide dogs in to college over the Christmas period and had a launch guide with a puppy,” said Gill Hellewell, study adviser. “Just before May half term, we had a pop up shop selling stationery for around three weeks and a big bake sale. Six guide dogs and their owners visited the college as well.”
In addition to the pop up shop, caterers Taylor-Shaw added to the total, donating over £100 from their spare change tins around the college. The fundraising was such a success, and the four-legged visitors proved so popular that the student librarians are continuing their collaboration with the Guide Dogs charity in the next academic year.
