Supporting act switch-on accolade for The Sound
Popular party band The Sound are supporting Busted at the Blackpool Tower Headland for this year’s illuminations switch-on.
The band, made up mainly of current and ex-Blackpool Sixth students, supported Fleetwood’s Alfie Boe last year.
“We are definitely excited to be supporting Busted this year and it’s even better that we’re the only local band that has ever been asked back to do the switch on again!” said Katie Hill, 17, lead guitarist.
“What’s great is that not only this, we have been asked to perform at the aftershow party in the tower too, which is a VIP only event,” added Katie. “The tower ballroom is a wonderful place and it’s an honour to be given the opportunity to really prove our talents in such an amazing venue!”
Katie and drummer Max Fish are studying at Blackpool Sixth, and Joshua Dempsey, vocalist and Megan Delves, keyboards and vocals, are former students. Kian Dempsey, 16, second lead vocalist, is joining the sixth form in September. Their fellow band member, Will Hooper, bassist, is a student at Kirkham Grammar.
The band’s set of cover songs goes down well at parties and events and the band have gigs lined up, including a residency at Viva in Blackpool in December.
